Sahara has been closed for quite some time now, and SLS Las Vegas has had a slow evolution. It has been recently revealed that any resemblance to the Sahara (both interior and exterior) will be completely gone. SLS is expected to open late 2014.
The Las Vegas Review Journal elaborated on the massive change, detailing the complete removal of the Morocca influences, and will feature an “ultramodern look and style with elements reminiscent of Hollywood Boulevard and the Sunset Strip”. The pool, rooftops and more are being completely rebuilt. The monorail currently dumps passengers on the street, due to the remodelling of the previous monorail entrance which used to go directly into the Sahara. No more NASCAR Cafe, Congo Showroom, and certainly no more roller coaster.
It will take a massive change to get people that far up the strip to check out SLS, so these changes are likely for the best!
